I think it's terrible that so many brave firefighters and rescue workers have developed lung diseases and disabilities from the debris at that the 9/11 site. The government organizations have tried to act as if the site was safer than it truly was so they dont have to pay for the lives of those rescue workers. My grandfather died from mesothelioma when I was a boy, and I am just now beginning to understand the disease and just how subtle and long-term the onset is. I have found some great information here and at various other mesothelioma information sites such as http://www.mesotheliomahelp.net. It is important now for me to understand, because I was so young when he died. I support those who fight against companies and organizations that want to cover up asbestos exposure to their workers. Thank you for your site, and the work you all do.

I have been trying to determine how long it actually takes for mesothelioma issues to set into play.

How long is it from the time of exposure, to the time of developing cancer?

Is this something that happens relatively quickly, or is this something that takes decades to set in?

I believe the latter, but I can find very little information about the time from relating to mesothelioma.

About 2,000 new cases of Mesothelioma are diagnosed in the United States each year. This numbers of Mesothelioma cases are growing at exponential sizes because of the big Asbestos exposure that the citizens have in our days. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is almost always caused by previous exposure to asbestos. With the Mesotheliomas Cases growing exponential the requirements of trustful information are huge.

It beggars belief that they still can't acknowledge complicity in the use of asbestos - which quite clearly causes asbestos cancer - mesothelioma. I'm surprised that certain old loft insulations are still not forcibly removed.

My husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma 4/1/2005. He had his right lung removed 5/13/2005, followed by extensive radiation and chemotherapy (alimpta and cisplatin). He continues to have clean scans as we travel to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston every six months. We believe because he was in early stage when diagnosed, the use of alimpta and the fact that he was never a smoker has prolonged his life. He doesn't require oxygen but recently was prescribed inhalers, both long term and short term to help with wheezing. He is only 55 years old. We take things one day at a time now and enjoy our time together, although no strenuous activity for him, but he is ok with just being alive right now.

There is evidence to suggest that the peak in mesothelioma litigation will be around 2010 and then the focus will shift from the USA to the eastern bloc countries where asbestos laws have not been modified along the same lines.
What do you think about this prediction?
