"New York Man Dying of Mesothelioma Awarded $47 Million"
April 5, 2003
A Manhattan jury awarded $47 million to a man dying of mesothelioma due to asbestos exposure in the workplace. The jury found Con Edison, the mans former place of employment, to be reckless for not providing a safe working environment. The man was diagnosed with mesothelioma in May 2001. The company plans on appealing the asbestos lawsuit.
All forms of asbestos have been shown to cause cancer. If exposed, those individuals risk asbestos-illnesses, including a rare, inoperable cancer called mesothelioma.
