"Former Railroad Workers File Asbestos Lawsuits"

Nine asbestos lawsuits were filed alleging Union Pacific Railroad Company is to blame for the five men who died of asbestos cancer and the four survivors that are now suffering. The workers involved in the asbestos lawsuits were affected by instances of asbestosis or mesothelioma, a rare lung cancer associated to asbestos exposure. A Rand Institute for Civil Justice 2002 report showed that 600,000 Americans had filed claims for asbestos-related injuries.

All forms of asbestos have been shown to cause cancer. If exposed, those individuals risk asbestos-illnesses, including a rare, inoperable cancer called mesothelioma.
