Asbestos Claim Filed by Minnesota Woman
A woman from Minnesota who was recently diagnosed with mesothelioma has filed a suit against her former employer.
The plaintiff reportedly worked as a laborer at various locations in Minneapolis and was also self-employed working doing remodeling and helping to maintain rental properties.
Woman Blames Former Employer for Illness
Lorrayne Weiss names her formers employer, John Crane and Sprinkmann Sons Corp., which is a corporation based out of Illinois, as the main defendant in the suit.
Weiss says that during the course of her employment at the company she was exposed to and inhaled asbestos fibers.
Also named as defendants in the suit, are 48 other companies, including CBS, Chrysler, Ford Motor Company and General Electric.
Lawsuit Claims
According to court papers, the defendants knew or should have known that the asbestos fibers contained in their products were toxic and dangerous to their employees.
“The plaintiff’s exposure and inhalation, ingestion or absorption of the asbestos fibers was completely foreseeable and should have been anticipated,” says the complaint.
Weiss also claims that the companies failed to require and advise employees of hygiene practices that would prevent them from carrying fibers home on their clothing.
