New reports have surfaced regarding the current conditions in Libby, Montana in light of the ongoing asbestos problems.
Several mine workers have developed asbestos related illnesses in recent years and the problem only continues to worsen as more research is conducted on the state of the mining town.
More Residents at Risk
Doctors in Libby recently reported that more residents are expected to develop lung disease due to exposure to asbestos.
Asbestos has been a constant issue in the community of Libby and the surrounding areas and many residents fear they have already been put at risk.
Study Conducted
Doctors and researchers have joined together to take a closer look at the problems in the small town and the increasing cases of mesothelioma.
The study reportedly focused on 11 new cases that have not been reported before.
New Cases of Mesothelioma Revealed
According to the conductors of the study, none of the new cases were from people who worked at the W.R. Grace mine.
Instead they were from residents who lived in the areas closest to the mine and were exposed to low levels of asbestos.
The researchers say the United States can expect to see an epidemic of lung disease over the next 20 years stemming from Libby.
