More Asbestos Suits Filed in Madison County

Past reports showed that asbestos cases in Madison County, Illinois, have declined in the past few years.

However, more recent reports show that this trend has taken a drastic turn in the past couple of weeks.

Number of Suits Soar in Five Days

According to attorneys in the area, within a five-day filing period, between March 13 and March 18, 20 asbestos cases were filed in five law firms in Madison County.

This comes as a surprise to many since it’s the most that have been filed in this region in more than two years.

Suits Filed

On March 13, Marcella Waters was one of six who filed a suit in Madison County.

Waters, who was recently diagnosed with mesothelioma, claims she was exposed to asbestos while working as a secretary.

She also says she was the victim of second hand exposure from her husband’s clothing.

William Yeager, claims in his suit, which is one of three that was filed on March 14 that he was exposed to asbestos while working as a boilermaker.

Five more cases were reportedly filed on March 17 and five more followed on March 18.
