Asbestos Suit Filed by Tennessee Man
A man who is suffering from mesothelioma recently filed an asbestos suit in a Madison County court.
The man claims his disease was wrongfully caused and is blaming his previous employers for the illness he now has to live with.
Allegations Against Former Employer
The suit was filed by James Weese, who was employed as a pipefitter, laborer, and welder from the early 1940’s through the 1990’s at various locations throughout Illinois.
Weese claims that during his employment he was exposed to and inhaled asbestos fibers from certain products that he was working with and around.
118 defendants are included in the suit including Alcoa, CBS, Exxonmobil, Ford Motor Company and General Motors.
The plaintiff believes that his former employers should have known that the products containing asbestos were harmful to their workers.
No Safety Pre-Cautions Taken
Weese states in the lawsuit documents that his former employers provided no safety gear or guidelines for their employees who were working with hazardous products.
The defendants reportedly failed to inform the workers of proper hygiene practices, which were created to prevent asbestos fibers from being carried home at the end of the day.
