Widow Files Asbestos Lawsuit

June 20 , 2006

The widow of Kenny Partlow, a former union president and member of the House of Delegates, filed an asbestos lawsuit claiming her late husbands death was a direct result of exposure to hazardous asbestos fibers.

Partlow died at the age of 69 in June 2004 after developing asbestos-related illnesses including cancer and respiratory complications.

According to the lawsuit, Partlow was a factory worker for many years before being appointed the president of Glass, Molders, Pottery, and Plastic Workers. His line of work caused him to be frequently exposed to unsafe levels of asbestos.

The lawsuit claims Partlow sustained permanent and severe injuries to his lungs, respiratory and cardiovascular systems, and suffered from asbestos-related diseases, including lung cancer.

Thirty-five defendants are named in the lawsuit, which included seven West Virginia-based companies that manufacturer asbestos or asbestos-containing products.

Partlows widow, Svenna Partlow, seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages for pain and suffering, medical costs, and loss of consortium.
