A Mesothelioma and Asbestos Information and Treatment Center Resource
The largest union in the state of Maryland recently filed a complaint with a state health agency.
The complaint is in regards to the asbestos that has been found at a child welfare services office in Baltimore.
Asbestos Found in Building
Officials from the union filed the complaint after active asbestos was reportedly found in the building last weekend.
Joe Lawrence, a spokesman for the Maryland chapter of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees says contractors working on the building found asbestos in the piping.
Workers at Risk
According to reports, about 350 state Department of Social Services employees work in the building.
“That building has a history of problems, and we’re not seeing the urgency from the administration that we need to see,” explains Lawrence.
