Mesothelioma: 12 Essential Facts

Mesothelioma Victim Files Suit in CO

A woman living in Colorado who is suffering from mesothelioma recently filed a mesothelioma lawsuit against her former employers.

The suit claims that the woman’s illness was wrongfully caused and could have been prevented.

Woman Blames Illness on Workplace Exposure

Joann Dennett was employed at various locations throughout the United States working on home and automotive repairs between 1958 and 2008.

During her employment, Dennett says she was exposed to and inhaled asbestos fibers that were emitted from certain products she worked with.

Lawsuit Names 73 Defendants

Dennett filed the lawsuit against 73 corporations including Bondex International, CBS, Chrysler and Ford Motor Company.

As a result of her exposure to asbestos while at work, Dennett developed mesothelioma, which is a fatal form of cancer.

“The plaintiff’s exposure and inhalation, ingestion or absorption of the asbestos fibers was completely foreseeable and could or should have been anticipated by the defendants,” says the suit.

Plaintiff Suffers from Exposure

Dennett is seeking at least $200,000 in damages for negligence, conspiracy and wanton acts.

According to the suit, “she has suffered damages in the form of impaired ability to recover against defendants and lost or reduced compensation from other liable parties.”
