Removal of Asbestos Causes Concern in CT

According to reports, resident in Greenwich, Connecticut, are feeling uneasy about the removal of asbestos near a Wiffle ball park.

The removal is happening very close to a temporary Wiffle ball field where teens are being allowed to play after being kicked out of a municipally owned lot in nearby Riverside.

Asbestos Found Near Public Park

Asbestos was found at the International School at Dundee and parents of the teens are voicing their concern about the trailers with signs saying “Danger Asbestos” that are parked in the Wiffle ball field’s parking lot.

The teens park their cars in the same lot and parents worry that they are being exposed to asbestos, which is a known carcinogen.

“Maybe we should see if the town has a nuclear site where they could build the kids a temporary Wiffle ball field,” joked Frank Currivan, who son and daughter both play at the field. “I am shocked. That’s absolutely unbelievable.”

Removal at Field Taking Place

Last week, workers began removing asbestos from the school and were seen unloading drums for storing asbestos-contaminated materials from the tractor trailer.

The tow parks director claims they had no idea the park was being used by teens on a regular basis.

“We wouldn’t deliberately put kids in danger had we known this,” says Joseph Siciliano.
Several residents in nearby neighborhoods have already hired lawyers to filed suits against the city of Greenwich.

“I would rather see them turn their ankle in a catch basin than he exposed to asbestos,” stated Currivan. “It’s crazy.
