Lawsuit Claims Asbestos at Hudson Hotel

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

A lawsuit was recently filed in New York regarding the supposed asbestos problems at the Hudson Hotel.

A tenant at the hotel says he believes he was being exposed to asbestos while at residing on the property.

Safety Procedures Reportedly Violated

Thomas Pavese claims that the Hudson Hotel ignored environmental safety procedures and knowingly put their tenants at risk.

Asbestos was reportedly removed from apartments on the property that were being reconstructed into guest suites.

Asbestos Removal Raises Provokes Suit

According to the suit, workers dumped the asbestos in a large box that was in poor condition and remained open at all times.

The workers were also seen by Pavese blowing asbestos out the window with a metal hose, which he claims spread it over the street and inside the building.

Lawsuit Allegations

The suit claims that some of the removed asbestos was even put in tenants’ garbage containers in the hallways.

As a result, Pavese claims that he has experienced trouble breathing and has been hospitalized for a chronic illness.

He is seeking more than $50 million in damages from the suit.
