A man living in Illinois who is reportedly suffering from mesothlioma has filed an asbestos suit against his former employers.
The suit names 79 corporations and the plaintiff claims it was due to his exposure at work that he is now living with this fatal illness.
Automotive Repairman Exposed
Raymond Hostert, who worked doing automotive repairs, claims he was exposed to and inhaled asbestos fibers throughout his career.
Hostert was employed at various locations throughout Illinois from 1952 to 1999 as a machine operator, drill press operator and mechanic.
Defendants Named in Asbestos Suit
Among the defendants named in the suit are, Bondex International, CBS and Chrysler.
“The plaintiff’s exposure and inhalation, ingestion or absorption of asbestos fibers was completely foreseeable and could or should have been anticipated by the defendants,” states the suit.
Hostert believes the defendants knew or should have known that the products he was working with and around contained asbestos.
He also says his employers failed to provide any safety equipment or guidelines for their employees, which essentially put them at high risk.
Seeking Compensation for Mesothelioma
Hostert is seeking at least $400,000 in damages for the illness he is now living with, negligence, and conspiracy.
Court papers explain the Hostert has filed the suit to prevent other workers from going through the hardships and health complications he now has to endure.
