A Mesothelioma and Asbestos Information and Treatment Center Resource
An asbestos consultant for the Muncie Community Schools is currently facing a fine for allegedly violating the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Act.
The consultant company in question is reportedly facing a penalty of $1,500 for improper asbestos removal.
Asbestos Violations
ACM & Environmental Services is being accused of committing eight violations during their renovations of Central High School last year.
The violations include:
• There were supposedly no training records available for employees who performed asbestos work.
• The workers allegedly performed spot abatement of spray-on fireproofing without the use of respirators.
• Untrained employees scraped asbestos off the walls without using protective gear.
Company Admits to Violations
Sater Electric, the mechanical-electrical contractor that was working on the project, reportedly already signed an EISA admitting to violating eight of the guidelines.
Among those they admitted to were: they failed to reduce dust emissions, didn’t use safety glasses and didn’t provide protective clothing for their employees.
