Kentucky Couple Files Asbestos Suit

A man living in Kentucky recently filed a suit against his previous employers with the help of his wife.

The couple filed the suit in a Kanawha Circuit Court believing that the man's former employers are to blame for his asbestos related illness.

Lawsuit Allegations

Roger and Sally Broughton, a couple living in Ashland, KY, have filed a suit with the help of their attorney, Samuel Elswick.

The suit has been filed against 51 companies in West Virginia that Broughton has worked for throughout the years.

Broughton claims in the suit that he was exposed to asbestos while working as a locomotive repairman from 1958 to 1997.

Since retiring, Broughton has reportedly contracted lung cancer and claims his exposure to the asbestos for all those years is to blame.

The suit documents claim that the defendants knew that their employees were being exposed to asbestos, but took no action to warn or protect the workers.

Seeking Compensation

According to Broughton, he has suffered physically and financially as the result of the company's negligence.

He is seeking punitive and compensatory damages and his wife, Sally, is also claiming a loss of financial support from her husband and companionship.
