A Mesothelioma and Asbestos Information and Treatment Center Resource
A suit was recently filed in Kentucky by a man who claims that his former employers are responsible for the illness he is living with.
The lawsuit was filed against 72 companies for their negligence and failure to inform their employees of the dangers of asbestos.
Man Diagnosed with Mesothelioma
Jerry L. Rice Sr., 63, filed the suit after being diagnosed with mesothelioma, which is a fatal form of cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos.
Rice believes that he was exposed to the harmful substance while working at various job sites in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan.
Lawsuit Details
According to the suit, Rice inhaled the harmful dust that developed from the use of products that contained asbestos.
Rice’s attorney, Victoria L. Antion, claims that the companies failed to warn Rice and the other employees of the dangers of asbestos.
The companies are also accused of failing to provide proper safety equipment and apparel for the workers.
Plaintiff Seeks Compensation
Rice says that as a result of his asbestos exposure, he developed a severe, permanent and disabling disease.
