Lawsuit Claims Manufacturers Conspired to Use Asbestos

A suit was recently filed against A.W. Chesterton and 29 other companies claiming they conspired to mine, process and sell products containing asbestos.

The suit says the companies suppressed the information regarding the cancerous substance on human health and knowingly put a former employee in danger.

Former Employee Claims Workplace Exposure

Paul A. Wilhelm filed the suit against several companies including American Standard, General Electric and Zurn Industries claiming that they knew that the products they were manufacturing contained asbestos.

As a result of his alleged asbestos exposure, Wilhelm is now living with mesothelioma.

“Defendants knowingly conspired among themselves to cause Wilhelm’s injuries, diseases and illness by exposing him to asbestos,” says the suit.

The suit says that the plaintiff was exposed to asbestos while working at shipyards, steel mills, refineries, paper mills and chemical plants.

Plaintiff Living with Illness

“Wilhelm has sustained damages including injuries…and has been deprived of the opportunity of informed choice,” says the suit. “Each defendant violated federal and state regulations relating to asbestos exposure.”

The suit is seeking compensation for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and loss of wages, amongst other things.
