A Mesothelioma and Asbestos Information and Treatment Center Resource
The widow of a man whose life was claimed by mesothelioma recently filed a lawsuit accusing 16 companies of negligence. She is seeking full compensatory and punitive damages.
Mary Ellen Burns, the widow of Willard Burns, filed the lawsuit together with the executor of her late husband’s estate, Patricia Ann Rollins.
The lawsuit states that Willard Burns died of mesothelioma and asbestosis—both caused by exposure to asbestos—on February 3, 2007. He had worked as a boilermaker, operator and welder for Union Carbide Corporation for more than three decades.
According to the complaint, Willard Burns developed the deadly diseases after inhaling asbestos in the workplace. The defendants are charged with neglect for failing to inform him of dangers of asbestos exposure.
The lawsuit was filed earlier this month in a West Virginia court.
