Asbestos Found at Elementary School in Michigan

Asbestos was recently found by construction workers at an elementary school in Michigan.

The construction work reportedly uncovered an expected subfloor along with asbestos, which is a cancer causing substance that can be extremely harmful when inhaled and ingested.

Crews Uncover Harmful Material

Construction workers were reportedly tearing out the flooring in the school's cafeteria this past weekend when they discovered the subflooring.

According to reports, they immediately stopped working, sealed of the area and notified administrators of the problem.

Dangers of Asbestos

Asbestos is a material made up of fibers that was commonly used in construction before it was banned in the 1970's.

It is a cancer-causing substance that poses great risk to those who come into contact with it.

Parents Voice Concern

Since the revealing of asbestos at the school, parents have been growing increasingly concerned about their children's health.

Keith Langworthy, an industrial hygienist, reportedly has taken time to talk with parents and teachers to alleviate any concerns they are having and ensure their children's safety.
