Minnesota Man Files Asbestos Lawsuit

A man living in Minnesota filed an asbestos lawsuit against 55 defendant corporations after being diagnosed with lung cancer. David R. Knoblauch filed the lawsuit Sept. 12, claiming that his illness is the result of wrongful exposure to toxic asbestos fibers during his employment with the companies listed in the suit.

Workplace Exposure

The lawsuit, filed in Madison County Circuit Court, claims that Knoblauch was exposed to toxic asbestos fibers at some point during his career.

Knoblauch allegedly worked as a truck driver at Comfort Healing from 1959 to 1961, a laborer in the marines from 1961 to 1965 and as a laborer at Amstan Supply from 1965 to 1968. He also claims he worked as a malt blender at Kurth Malting from 1968 to 1973 and as a laborer from 1973 to 2006 in various locations.

Seeking Compensation for Wrongdoing

Knoblauch is suing for financial, physical and emotional damages he claims should have been anticipated by the listed employers. The lawsuit claims that the asbestos-related disease has prevented him from pursuing his career and, therefore, has caused him to suffer from lost wages.

Knoblauch is seeking sums in excess of $50,000 for medical bills, more than $100,000 for punitive and exemplary damages and more than $150,000 in compensatory damages, which include the cost of the suit.

He is also seeking punitive damages to punish Sprinkmann Sons Corporation, Sprinkmann Insulation, Young Insulation Group of Saint Louis and Ferris Kimball Company for negligence. Knoblauch hopes the results of the lawsuit will deter these and other companies from future negligence and misconduct.
