Man Living in Minnesota Files Mesothelioma Suit

A resident of Minnesota recently filed a suit against 65 defendant corporations who he claims are responsible for his development of mesothelioma.

The man says that he was exposed to asbestos while working as a laborer for some of the companies from 1953 to 1999.

Suit Claims Workplace Exposure

Harvey Carlson says that during his employment as a home and automotive repair man, he was exposed to asbestos through the products he was working with and around.

In 2007, Carlson was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a fatal form of cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos.

“The plaintiff’s exposure and inhalation, ingestion or absorption of the asbestos fibers was completely foreseeable and could not or should not have been anticipated by the defendants,” says the complaint.

Defendants Accused of Negligence

Carlson claims that the defendants knew or should have known that the asbestos fibers could be harmful to their employees.

He also alleges that the companies used asbestos in their products when other substitutes were available and just as adequate.

Plaintiff Seeks Compensation

As a result of his exposure to asbestos, Carlson has supposedly suffered “great physical pain and mental anguish,” says the suit.

He is seeking at least $40,000 in damages for negligence, conspiracy and negligent spoliation.
