Missouri Couple Claims Illness Caused by Asbestos

A Missouri couple recently filed a mesothelioma lawsuit against 72 corporations claiming the man’s illness was caused by his exposure to asbestos.

The lawsuit claims the illness was wrongfully caused and the plaintiff was unknowingly exposed to asbestos fibers while at work.

Exposure at Work Leads to Cancer

Gary and Mary Jane Nichols filed the suit after Gary was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer.

Gary worked as an assembler, tool maker and supervisor for General Motors Corporation and the Nichols believe his illness was caused by his exposure to asbestos while working.

Lawsuit Claims

According to the lawsuit, Gary’s exposure was foreseeable and should have been anticipated by the defendants.

The Nichols say he developed cancer after inhaling, ingesting, and absorbing asbestos fibers in other ways.

As a result of his exposure and illness, Gary is disfigured and the couple has been financially burdened with medical expenses.

Seeking Compensation for Wrongdoing

Gary and Mary Jane are seeking sums in excess of $100,000 in the suit, compensatory damages in excess of $150,000 and exemplarily damage in excess of $100,000.

They are also seeking punitive damages in an amount to punish the defendants named in the suit.
