U.S. Navy Victims of Asbestos Exposure Receive Help

A service was recently developed by Americas Watchdog for the victims and family members of victims who are suffering from asbestos related illnesses due to exposure as U.S. Navy Veterans.

The group says that until now, they never realized that no safety net has been provided for victims of asbestos exposure from the government or VA.

Americas Watchdog Offers Help

Americas Watchdog has created the Mesothelioma Victims Center to act as the national advocacy center for the victims and family members who have been exposed to the harmful substance.

The center is reportedly free and offers the following services:

• Helping victims obtain Social Security permanent disability payments
• If the victim was exposed during military duty, they will work with the victim to obtain veterans disability and health care benefits
• The center will help the victim’s family get the best possible health care

Who is at Risk of Mesothelioma

Although asbestos was banned for use in the U.S. in the 1970’s, the substance can still be found in several older buildings and in certain work areas throughout the country.

Among those who are at risk are:

• Individuals who served in the U.S. Navy
• Naval ship yard workers
• Automotive repair specialists
• Construction workers
