Pennsylvanian Woman Claims She was Fired for Asbestos Complaints

A woman living in Lower Windsor Township in Pennsylvania recently filed a suit claiming that she was fired from a York County nursing home for voicing concern about asbestos fibers.

The woman says that after she complained about the asbestos she noticed in the floorings of the nursing home’s salon, she was fired from her job as a beautician.

Former Beautician Files Suit

Mary Ann Gruzs claims that she was fired after she complained about the asbestos in the flooring of the salon.

The county claims that they fired her after not coming to work for three consecutive days and failing to notify anyone.

However, Gruzs says that she did offer proper notification and her First Amendment Rights were violated.

Asbestos in Flooring

Gruzs says that she became aware of the asbestos in the flooring after complaining about the condition.

The floor was reportedly breaking apart and became a tripping hazard.

When Gruzs voiced her concerns, the maintenance manager denied the problem.
