25 Companies Named in WV Asbestos Suit

A man living in Barbour County, WV recently filed a suit against his father’s former employers and his former employer’s for the asbestos he was supposedly exposed to throughout his life.

The suit names 25 companies and seeks compensation for the mental and physical suffering he is now enduring.

First and Second Hand Exposure

Jennings Bartlett’s father reportedly worked as a welder at U.S. Steel and would come home with asbestos on his clothing daily, exposing him to second hand asbestos.

Bartlett claims that he was exposed to asbestos as a child as well as later on in life when he worked at various car dealerships doing mechanical repair work.

Plaintiff Develops Illnesses

As a result of his exposure, Bartlett says he developed asbestosis and mesothelioma.

Both of these illnesses are fatal and have been linked to asbestos exposure.

Companies Named in Suit

Among the companies named in the suit are Unarco, Johns-Manville, Raybestos and H.K. Porter.

Bartlett also accuses Friction Products Division and American Brake Block of conspiring to suppress the harmful effects of asbestos to their employers.

Couple Seeks Compensation

Beulah Bartlett, Jennings’ wife, is seeking compensation for her loss of companionship and general services since her husband was diagnosed.

The couple is also seeking compensation for past and future medical expenses as well as punitive damages for their injuries.
