A Mesothelioma and Asbestos Information and Treatment Center Resource
Among the current pieces of legislation that are up for discussion in Wyoming is Senate File 27.
Officials and residents hope that the legislation will address and help cleanup the asbestos located in construction fibers off of Lupe Road.
Asbestos on Side of Road
Sen. Tony Ross says that the legislation has been passed in response to concerns over a pile of garbage that has been corroding the side of the road.
Many local residents fear, that the construction pile is putting their health at danger seeing as it has tested positive for asbestos.
Sen. Ross says that there is a lot of asbestos located in his district and he drives by this particular pile daily.
“It’s horrible,” explains Ross, “this is a nice, residential area with a pile of junk.”
How the Legislation Would Help
According to reports, the legislation would give country officials the permission to regulate and take care of such nuisances.
The legislation has recently been altered to ensure that officials are able to abate health and safety issues such as this.
“We’ve tested for asbestos, but what other health hazards are out there?” asks M. Lee Hasenauer, who lives on Lupe Road. “We won’t know until we get in there to clean up.”
