We’ve done some research and selected five websites that contain more specialized asbestos exposure information that may be useful for those wondering if they are being, or have been exposed to asbestos in their specific home, workplace, school, or city. Here they are:
- The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry’s National Asbestos Exposure Review — Vermaculite mined from Libby, Montana has been found to contain asbestos. Here is a site listing the location of sites used for processing vermiculite from Libby. If you’ve worked at vermaculte processing plants in the listed locations, you may have been exposed to asbestos. See a doctor.
- United States National Library of Medicine TOXMAP — Here, you can enter your city and the name of a hazardous substance, including asbestos, to search the Toxic Release Inventory and display areas contaminated with the hazardous substance on a map.
- The Environmental Protection Agency’s site on asbestos in the home — Contains information on what you should do and who you should contact if you find asbestos in your home.
- EPA’s FAQ about asbestos in schools — Contains a lot of specific information on asbestos found in schools, the dangers, what can be done, and who to contact if you suspect an asbestos violation in your child’s school.
