A Mesothelioma and Asbestos Information and Treatment Center Resource
A second lawsuit was recently filed on behalf of a man who died from an asbestos-related disease.
The man was employed as a pipefitter for various companies and worked with and around asbestos throughout his career.
First Suit Filed
Ernest L. Edwards filed the first lawsuit against his former employers after he was diagnosed with his fatal illness. According to the suit, Edwards suffered from industrial dust diseases caused by breathing asbestos-containing products. Shortly after filing the suit, Edwards died from his disease and his family decided to take further action.
Family Steps Up
Edwards’ family has filed a second suit against A.O. Smith Corp. and 34 other corporations claiming that they knowingly exposed their workers to the carcinogen.
The suit states that the companies were negligent for failing to test their products for asbestos before allowing their workers to handle them and before they were distributed to the public.
Although Edwards already received a claim from his initial suit, his family is seeking damages from the defendants that weren’t previously received.
