A Mesothelioma and Asbestos Information and Treatment Center Resource
A Texas woman claims that as a result of second-hand exposure to asbestos from her father, she developed mesothelioma.
The woman’s father reportedly worked with and around products containing asbestos and would bring the fibers home on his clothing.
Father Exposed at Work
Cynthia Leigh Chason has filed a suit against her father’s former employers claiming that they exposed him to asbestos and as a result she too has suffered.
“Ms. Chason was exposed to asbestos through household contact from her father, Loy Garner, who was employed by Marathon for at least a decade,” states the suit.
Suit Details
The suit claims that Chason was exposed to large quantities of asbestos from the products and machinery he manufactured while employed at Marathon.
BASF Corporation and Todd Shipyards Corporation have also been named as defendants in the suit.
According to court papers, the defendants were aware of the potential health risks associated with asbestos but still allowed their employees to be exposed to the harmful carcinogen.
Chason is seeking compensation for past and future medical bills and the pain and suffering she has been forced to endure as a result of her illness.
