Two asbestos-related lawsuits filed in West Virginia
Recently, two separate lawsuits have been filed in Kanawha County, West Virginia; both of which concern the development of lung cancer due to asbestos exposure.
Victim of asbestos exposure in the workplace
James William Davis Jr. is one of the two plaintiffs who filed an asbestos-related lawsuit. Davis alleges he developed lung cancer after being exposed to asbestos during his employment at A.K. Steel and Allied Chemical between 1967 and 1971 or between 1981 and 1997 when he worked as a laborer.
Davis is not only seeking compensation for his medical bills, but is also claiming punitive damages for mental and physical pain.
Second lawsuit filed by a woman after losing her husband to lung cancer
The second lawsuit filed in Kanawha County was filed by Ruth E. Davis on behalf of her husband, John E. Davis, who died from lung cancer. She claims her husband was exposed to a number of hazardous materials, including asbestos while working as a machinist for Consolidated Rail and CSX Transportation.
Ruth alleges that that her husband was unaware of the harmful effects of the toxic materials and, as a result, developed lung cancer which ended up taking his life.
