Wrongful Death Suit Against Amoco Oil Co.

A retired plumber has filed a mesothelioma lawsuit against Amoco Oil Co. and 58 other companies for the alleged wrongful death of his wife.

The man claims that the asbestos that he was exposed to while employed at Amoco Oil Co. contaminated his wife and caused her to develop lung cancer.

Husband’s Claims

Elroyce Johnson worked at various chemical plants, including Amoco Oil Co., as a plumber, pipe fitter and carpenter throughout his marriage to Maxine Johnson.

“During his career, Mr. Johnson was exposed to asbestos-containing products that exposed Ms. Johnson to asbestos fibers on his clothes when he came home from work,” claims the suit. “Mrs. Johnson contracted lung cancer as a direct and proximate result of Mr. Johnson’s on the job exposure.”

Maxine died from lung cancer late last year.

Companies Blamed for Wife’s Death

The suit, which Johnson filed on behalf of his late wife, accuses his previous employers of maliciously conspiring to conceal any damaging asbestos research that has been conducted at the facilities.

“Defendants were negligent in failing to warn the Plaintiff or her husband of the severe risk to health posed by asbestos exposure and inhalation,” states the suit.

The suit also claims that the defendants knew of the harmful existence of asbestos in the working environment but didn’t do anything to take care of the problem or inform their employees of the potential danger.
