A couple living in West Virginia recently filed a lawsuit against 65 companies, claiming that they are responsible for the man's illness.

The plaintiff says that his former employers are to blame for his asbestosis.

Man Exposed to Asbestos at Work

Mayford Lee Sigman and his wife, Betty, filed the suit against the 65 defendants, all of which are located in West Virginia.

Sigman reportedly worked for Monsanto Company, where he claims he was exposed to asbestos through products that contained asbestos.

He blames the asbestos that he was exposed to on a continuous basis while at work for the asbestosis he is now living with.

Man Suffering Blames Former Employers

The suit says the defendants were negligent and should have warned their employees about the potential risks of working with and around asbestos.

Sigman says that as a result of his exposure, he has accrued medical and pharmaceutical expenses, great pain of body and mind, loss of earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life.

His wife, Betty, claims that she has experienced a loss of companionship, as well as the financial support of her husband.

The couple is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
